Lots of new Spring apparel and accessories await you and there are still great Winter closeouts for those final chilly days and nights.

Interested in Vintage Clothing?

For Christmas, I received a wonderful book on shopping for vintage clothing that will delight you if vintage is your niche. I'm still learning and there's oh so much to learn.

Entitled "Shopping for Vintage - The Definitive Guide to Fashion" by Funmi Odulate is a great introduction to this genre.

My husband got it at Anthropologie (my favorite store!)but it's available on Amazon.com and most bookstores.

Highly recommended.

Spotlight on Yves St. Laurent

I had the great pleasure of visiting the Yves St. Laurent exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco last weekend. What a spectacular display of eye candy by this iconic designer. Described as a virtuoso, visionary, and genius by many, whatever the moniker, he's truly an artist of the highest caliber and this exhibit rocked!

I was especially fond of the pieces that were reminiscent of particular artists in history like Mondrian and Picasso. This master couturier broke all the rules of fashion in his time - mixing bright candy colors, textures; incorporating his love of the natural world in his clothing, and introducing exotic elements drawn directly from his love of other cultures (Russia,Spain, China, Morocco).

Don't miss this show. It's a real treat and the museum is beautiful. The exhibit continues through early April. Open Tuesday - Sunday 9:30 - 5:15 and Fridays 9:30-8:45, closed on Mondays. Check out the website for details: www.deyoungmuseum.org

There's Cash In Your Closets!

Well, it's official - Punxsutawney Phil (more commonly known as Mr.Groundhog) saw his shadow today, so that means we officially have 6 more weeks of winter. Of course, we all know that's a bunch of "groundhogwash" as we experience another week of record high temperatures.

Spring has definitely sprung at Red Umbrella Consignment. We've received hundreds of new spring items over the past couple of weeks and they're selling like hotcakes. We have a NEW shipment of items from "Free People", "Lux", and "Urban Outfitters", sure to please the sun worshippers amongst us. You can't beat these prices - about 1/3 of retail.

Now's the time to go through your drawers and closets to see what you'd like to bring us to consign. Lightweight tops, sweaters, pants, jeans, sandals, skirts, dresses etc. all in pristine condition (and, of course, no more than 2 years old)are what we're looking for. Freshly laundered or drycleaned is a must...

We'll also take season appropriate purses and accessories.

No appointment necessary. Come on by Mon-Sat between 10 and 5. See you then.
